Fit 5 Runners was created to meet a need I saw in our community. While sports like t-ball, soccer, and basketball are widely available, there are fewer programs focused on building overall fitness in a fun, age-appropriate way. I also wanted to create a program families could count on—one with clear communication, consistency, and a strong coaching experience.

That’s why Fit 5 is led by experienced educators and staffed with paid coaches, not volunteers. Our team understands how to work with kids, keep them engaged, and create a structured, positive environment where every child can succeed.

Fit 5 was designed to fill that gap and welcome kids of all backgrounds and skill levels.

As both a coach and a parent, I’ve seen firsthand how impactful this kind of program can be—my own children have thrived. It’s incredibly rewarding to now bring that same experience to other families in the community.

Our Origin & Mission

Hi! I’m Coach Kayla, founder and head coach of Fit 5 Runners. As a USATF-certified coach, I competed in track and field at the collegiate level and have served as a head track and field coach in Alexandria, VA. My passion is creating programs that inspire a lifelong love of movement in kids.

I also bring experience as a K–12 PE teacher and fitness coach (currently teaching in LCPS), which allows me to create a fun, structured, and supportive environment where children ages 4–10 can thrive and truly enjoy running.

At Fit 5, our coaching team is dedicated to giving each child personalized attention so they feel confident, supported, and excited to grow. All of our coaches are local teachers with a love for running & working with kids!

At Fit 5 Runners, our mission is to ignite a lifelong love of movement in children ages 4–10. We believe running is more than just exercise—it’s a powerful way to build confidence, develop essential skills, and have fun.

Whether your child is just getting started or looking to grow their athletic ability, our club provides a supportive, engaging environment where every runner can succeed.

Our program is built around five core components that create a strong athletic foundation:

Confidence: Helping kids believe in themselves and their abilities
Speed: Developing efficient running form and quickness
Endurance: Building stamina to stay active and energized
Strength: Supporting overall fitness and long-term health
Agility: Improving coordination, balance, and reaction time

With experienced coaches and a focus on positivity and inclusion, Fit 5 Runners is more than a running club—it’s a place where kids build friendships, grow stronger, and discover what they’re capable of.
